About Gary Miller Jr

With more than two decades of experience in the field of education, Gary A. Miller Jr. got his start as a science teacher at Ellet High School in Akron, Ohio. Gary A. Miller Jr. continued in the role of science teacher at Canton South High School, where he also served as head football coach. In 1999, he became a teacher at Richmond Heights Middle/High School, and he ultimately moved into the role of dean of students from 2002 to 2003. Also at Richmond Heights Schools, he worked as head football coach in charge of hiring coaches, and he received the honor of coaching in the Cuyahoga County East/West All-Star Football Game.

From 2003 to 2007, Gary A. Miller Jr. fulfilled the roles of science teacher and football coach within the Benjamin Logan Local School District in Bellefontaine, Ohio. Mr. Miller spent the 2007-08 school year teaching at Marysville High School, before accepting the athletic director position at Bradford Junior and Senior High School in the Spring of 2008. From 2010 to 2012, he worked as athletic director at Harding High School.

More recently, Mr. Miller carried out the duties of assistant principal at Grant Middle School. While at Grant MS, Mr. Miller worked collaboratively on data analysis as a basis for ongoing improvements at the school building. Mr. Miller worked with the building leadership team (BLT), and various teacher-based teams (TBT) to accomplish this ongoing process. Today, he is the principal of Northridge Middle School, where among his recent achievements include expanded elective course offerings for students, the development and implementation of a 1:1 technology initiative, and raised achievement levels on the state report card. Mr. Miller has lead efforts to raise the school's overall grade from an "F" to a "B", raise the building's performance index by 18.9%, raised the building's gap closing grade from an "F" to a "B", and raised the building's value added grade - or progress grade - from an "F" to an "A". Gary A. Miller Jr.'s leadership has also helped Northridge Middle School earn two consecutive state board of education Momentum Awards in 2017 & 2018.
